From session 2020-2021, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is implementing three new subjects of skills in the syllabus of Class 11. Such skills are being implemented, according to the board, to make the new generation more creative, innovative, physically fit, internationally changing in the industry and keep pace with needs. Three additional subjects will be introduced-Design-Thinking, Physical Activity Trainer and Artificial Intelligence.
Explain that there are 17 secondary-level skill subjects and 37 skill subjects are running at the senior secondary level for the younger generation skill development. The board has requested schools to consider choosing one or more skills courses for IX and 11th class students and begin it from the 2020-21 academic session. According to the circular, a skill subject with the five mandatory subjects occurring at the secondary level may be taken as an additional sixth subject.
In accordance with the current CBSE policy, if any 10th board student fails the examination result in any of the three elective subjects (Science, Mathematics, and Social Science), the result of Class VI will be given as the main subject for the sixth class. Whenever a student wants to pass in a failed subject again, however, he/she will appear in the review of the compartment. In the same way, the school can take at least one or more skill-based subjects out of 40 subjects as elective subjects at the upper secondary level.
