Indian Railways has introduced a new OTP based refund system for tickets booked through authorized railway ticketing agents. Indian Railways set a target to create a easy method, transparent and customer friendly system platform for reserved e-tickets, which are canceled or fully weighted dropped tickets. This new system will be implemented by the Indian Railways Public Sector Undertaking - Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC).
OTP to be sent as SMS OTP will be sent as SMS to the passenger's registered mobile number (the number given by the customer / passenger to the agent at the time of booking). To get the refund amount, the customer / passenger must share the OTP with the ticket booking agent. Purpose of cancellation refund process. Consumers With this facility, passengers will be able to get information about the amount received by the agent on their behalf for a canceled ticket or a fully weighted dropped ticket. The objective of the scheme is to harmonize the cancellation refund process, so that the cancellation funds are received by the agents on time to the customer.
Providing the same mobile number of any single passenger to the authorized agent of IRCTC at the time of booking of reserved railway e-ticket. Ensuring that the agent enters the mobile number correctly at the time of booking the reserved railway e-ticket. Note that IRCTC authorized agents are only allowed to book rail e-tickets reserved for customers.
