MS Dhoni, is an Indian international cricketer is associated with Cashless India, a campaign team of digital payment platform MasterCard, in which he will encourage merchants of the India to obtain digital payments. Under the digital India campaign of Indian central government, every Indian seller, merchant has to nominate one or more merchants who are not currently accepting digital payments instead of cash payment. Many Debit Card, Credit Card, Wallet companies will provide the infrastructure for merchants to take digital payments from individual buyer or b2b merchants. Digital transactions increased in India over the last few years In the last few years, digital payments in India have grown significantly. In the financial year 2018-19, 31.34 billion retail digital payments were recorded in the country. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has set a target of 40 billion digital transactions for the financial year 2019-20. However, about 90 percent of retail payments are still in cash.

MasterCard is continuously working with partnership banks, CAT and FinTech companies to increase awareness and acceptance of digital payments.
